September 17, 2011 Ashley and Dan were married at Berry Hill Resort in South Boston, Va. It was a cool, cloudy September day but the warm smiles and happy couple brightened the day perfectly! Ashley's attention to every detail made everything flow so smoothly. Congratulations guys! I had a great time working with you. Hope you enjoy this preview from your day!

WHAT TO WEAR
I wanted to share some helpful guides for dressing your family for portraits. The trend of everyone being perfectly matched in the same color has pasted, although you still need to coordinate your outfits. Fall is a very popular time for family portraits and my schedule fills up fast! So start planning now! Pick a favorite color or an outfit you love and use it as your starting point. But you should also look at what will go with your decor in the room you plan to display your portrait in. Now GO SHOPPING!

This past Saturday, July 2, 2011 was the BIG DAY for Kate Blair and Ben Farmer. Yes, it was very HOT, but soft clouds came in late to make for a beautiful day for a wedding. One of my favorite venues, Chatham Hall in Chatham, Va. was the perfect location! Kate's father's business, Blairs Construction, built the new addition that was the reception dance hall. I got to work with Shakin Hands Productions video team again and they always do an amazing job! All the finest details were covered to perfection, from the Jimmy Choo shoes, to the Dom Perignon Champagne, the wonderful catering from Chatham Hall, the floral arrangements by Airabella's! Kate and Ben were so great to work with and I wish them a lifetime of happiness!

I recently found this site and found it so interesting that I wanted to share. In this digital age we are in, we are seeing so many new people that "love taking pictures" think they can start a business. And yes, this is TRUE, but do they know what they are doing????? It takes a lot of training and hard work to really make a business out of photography. I like to help people, because I was there along time ago, before internet, and all the resourced we have at our fingertips now! Take a few minutes and check this out! Love how they illustrate the GOOD and the BAD! :)

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Heather and Jason's wedding in South Hill, Va. It was a beautiful day and everything went just as planned. We did ALL of the formals before the wedding including the special "FIRST LOOK" with the bride and groom. That allowed to have a slight detour on the way to the reception for a beautiful location called Beaver Creek with a pond, fountain, and bridges to create a few special images of just the couple before heading onto the reception. Great food, and friends for a perfect ending to the day! Here is a preview for Heather and Jason.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mimi Games ( a sweet lady and artist ) last week, who is bringing back a historical home in our area. I often have people ask me about locations for weddings or receptions in our area and here is a NEW ONE for you!
It is easy to get to and right before you get to the bridge at Hyco Lake! Set back off the road for a private landscape with huge Oak trees and still has some of the older buildings that were slave housing and working quarters and the most adorable OUT HOUSE you have ever seen!!! I hope to get to cover some events at this location very soon.
